What does Jubbo record?

Jubbo listens only during an activity, and only after a parent has started one from the app. At every other moment the microphone is shut, including while the box sits idle in a room with people talking in it.

What it hears is sent to our servers and turned into text so the activity knows what was said. The audio is not stored. The text is used for that turn and discarded when the turn ends.

What is kept is the outcome, not the words: which words your child met, how far along an activity they are, and a one-line summary of the session. That is what you see in the app.

In one activity — Sound Safari — your child’s own voice is held for the length of the session so it can be played back at the end. It is held in memory and never written down anywhere.
