Jubbo at three, four and five
At this age the box does most of the talking, and the child only has to say one thing back.
A three-year-old cannot be asked a question about a word they met four seconds ago. So at this age nothing is checked: Jubbo says a word, says what it means in the language you speak at home, gives one picture of it, and your child says it back. If it did not come through, it says it once more and takes whatever comes, warmly. Nobody is scored and nobody wins.
Sound Safari is the other game written for this age specifically, and it is the one most children ask for again. It is not a quiz — a wordless noise back means “I do not know, and I am here”, which is a real answer at four.
Stories work from three, and Table Time does too, though at this age it is a chant to join in with rather than a test.
A round, as it sounds
“Cow! गाय। The cow gives us milk.” … “cow” … “Yes! Cow.”
What plays at 3–5
5 of the activities are available to a child this age.
Story Time
Ages 3–15 · about 8 minutesA new story every day, written for your child’s age and read out loud.
Jubbo says what the story is about, then reads it — several chapters, with the sounds of the place worked in. If bedtime cuts it short, the next time you start it, it picks up at the chapter it stopped on.
Story Builder
Ages 3–15 · about 7 minutesMake up a story together, out loud, turn by turn.
Jubbo offers a beginning and asks what happens next. Your child says a line, Jubbo takes it and adds one, and they trade until the story finds an ending.
Word Lab
Ages 3–5 · about 6 minutesFirst English words, explained in the language you speak at home.
One word, what it means in your child’s own language, and one picture of it — all in a single breath. Then your child says it back. If it did not come through, Jubbo says it once more and takes whatever comes.
Table Time
Ages 3–15 · about 5 minutesThe times tables, chanted out loud and answered back.
Jubbo keeps the rhythm of the chant and your child fills in the answer. A right answer gets a tick and the next line straight away; a wrong one gets the fact said plainly and rolled into the next.
Sound Safari
Ages 3–5 · about 6 minutesJubbo plays a real recording and your child says what they hear.
A cow, a train, a school bell. Naming it puts the animal in the jeep, and at the end Jubbo plays the whole trip back — including your child’s own voice saying each one. Nobody is scored.
