Terms of use

You, the parent or guardian who bought a Jubbo or was given an account for one, and us, the people who make it. You must be an adult. A child cannot agree to these terms and never signs in to anything: the account is yours, the box is used by your children with your say-so, and every activity that plays is one you chose.

Jubbo is sold and supported in India, and these terms are governed by Indian law.

Three things that only work together: a box with a microphone, a speaker and two eye displays; a free parent app for iOS and Android; and a cloud service the box cannot do without. The box has no intelligence of its own. If the service is unavailable, the box waits.

It plays one activity at a time — a story, a word game, a quiz — and then stops. There is no open-ended conversation mode, no persona, and nothing runs unless a parent has started it from the app.

A reservation on the site is free and is not a sale. It holds a box for you in the order reservations arrive. When your box is ready to ship we email you a payment link for the price shown on the site, and the box ships once that payment is made; any delivery charge is shown on that link before you pay. You can cancel a reservation at any time before paying by replying to any email from us, and we delete the details you gave us.

We keep only what the reservation form asks for: your name, email address, mobile number, city and PIN code, how many boxes, and the optional hints about who will play.

For now, accounts are created by us and handed over with an email address and a password. Keep the password to yourself: anyone who has it can start activities on your box and see your children’s names and session history. Tell us at once if you think someone else has it, and we will reset it.

You can close the account yourself from the app, under Settings › Delete my account. That removes every child’s profile and progress, the people the box knows, all session history, every scanned chapter and the box’s pairing, and it cannot be undone. The box keeps working for whoever sets it up next.

Jubbo is for personal, family use in your home. Do not resell the service, run it for a school or a business, or use it for anything unlawful. Do not try to interfere with the service, extract its content, or connect anything to it other than a Jubbo box and the Jubbo app.

The stories, word lists, quizzes and recordings the box plays are ours or licensed to us. You may listen to them as much as you like on your box; you may not copy, redistribute or sell them.

The price you paid, what it covers, the warranty on the box and the returns window are the ones given to you in writing when you bought it. This page does not add to them or take anything away from them, and nothing here limits the rights you have under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019.

Activities are added, changed and sometimes removed; voices, stories and word lists are updated; the app and the box’s software update themselves. We will not remove a capability you paid for without telling you first.

If we ever have to stop running the service, we will give you as much notice as we can, and never less than ninety days, and we will say plainly what the box will and will not do afterwards.

What the box hears, what is kept and who else sees it are described on the children’s privacy page and, in full, on the privacy page. In short: a child’s voice is not stored, transcripts are not kept, nothing is sold, and there is no advertising. Those pages are part of these terms.

We are responsible for the box doing what this site says it does, and for handling your family’s data the way the privacy pages say. To the extent Indian law allows, we are not responsible for indirect losses, for the service being unavailable because of your internet connection, or for anything a child says to the box. Nothing in this section limits a liability the law does not allow us to limit.

When these terms change, the date at the top changes with them and the new version is published here. Using the box or the app after that date means you accept the new terms; if you do not, close the account from the app.

If something goes wrong, write to info@getjubbo.com first — most things are fixed in one email. Anything that cannot be is subject to the laws of India and the jurisdiction of the courts of India.
